SOUND AND STONE PAVILLION - TALIESIN WEST, AZ, 2007
At Taliesin, inspired as always by the stone and the air and the creative energy. The need to host a place to feel the sounds of the desert, to experience the warm stone in a natural rock amphitheater inspired this pavilion. The warm pink Organsa fabric became a perfect screen from which to feel the wind and the colors of the desert. The form created by a light metal frame morphs like the sound vibrations coming in contact with hard sheared angular surfaces of desert stone as it descends the mountain from higher ground. Contrast with air waves undulating in the desert breeze and one can obtain a full experience of life as a desert mountain nomad for a brief moment.
